Our Story
In 2021, our founder Mattias Pitka, a seasoned biomedical scientist with over a decade of experience in clinical diagnostic laboratory testing, faced a personal health challenge that ignited a transformative idea. Despite routine yearly check-ups that always returned "normal" results, Mattias unknowingly found himself suffering from acute anemia. Attributing his fatigue, exhaustion, and lack of energy to work-related stress, it wasn't until he attempted to donate blood that the real issue was discovered—decreased red blood cells.
This revelation led Mattias to recognize the gap in traditional healthcare: the reliance on population-derived reference ranges that only differentiate between "sick" and "not sick." He realized that by establishing personalized baseline reference ranges using routine blood work, individuals could monitor their health more accurately and take corrective action before even experiencing symptoms.
Inspired by his own experience and armed with extensive knowledge in diagnostic testing, Mattias founded Optima Dx in 2022 with a mission to help usher in Healthcare 3.0 by democratizing testing and leveraging cutting-edge technology to shift the paradigm from reactive care to truly personalized, proactive, and preventive care.
